PARENT PARTICIPATION:
Parent participation is strongly encouraged. The NEU Recreational Program is operated all by volunteers. In addition to Coach and Assistant Coach, some teams may designate parents to act as the Team Manager. The Team Manager can be responsible to help the coach with game day field set up, communications, photo day, trophies, and/or end of season party. There are many other opportunities to volunteer as well including serving on the Board. If you have skill that may serve the Club or an interest in volunteering, please contact info@northeastunitedsoccer.org
UNIFORMS:
Uniforms are purchased, by parents, through a local supplier. You do not need to purchase a new uniform each year. Purchase a new uniform if you are new to the club or need another size. Please see the Uniforms page on our website for details.
PRACTICES AND GAME SCHEDULES:
Most teams practice twice a week and have a game each Saturday. The teams practice at a field assigned to the Coach by the Field Coordinator. Unfortunately, due to the high demand for fields in Portland, PYSA does not know which fields will be available for NEU usage until the middle of August. For this reason, if coaches should want to have practices earlier, they will have to use a park without "official permission." If another group has a permit for the field the team will need to move their practice. Flexibility and advance scouting can make it work.
- U7 3 vs 3 - (2 simultaneous games) no goalie, plays an eight (8) week schedule
- U8 4 vs 4 - (2 simultaneous games) no goalie, plays an eight (8) week schedule
- U9 & U10 - 6 vs 6, goalie, plays a nine (9) week schedule, participates in PYSA fall tournament
- U11 & U12 - 8 vs 8, goalie, plays a nine (9) week schedule
- U13 & U14 - 11 vs 11, plays a ten (10) week schedule
Portland Youth Soccer Association (PYSA) will put the game schedule on their website www.portlandyouthsoccer.com just before the season starts. Parents will need to check the PYSA schedule each week on Friday to check for changes in schedule or venue. Schedule changes can occur at any time. Games are not usually affected by weather, except for lightning or ice.
